   The DRHCC’s role will always be helping businesses through the increased participation of the Hispanic community.

   The DRHCC will have a major leadership role in the community by partnering with the City, County, State and National leaders to implement projects and programs that promote the “New Diverse Majority”, in which the growing Hispanic population will play a major role. 

 OUR MISSION

   The DRHCC will lead the efforts that strengthen and support small, minority, and women-owned businesses; stimulate and advocate for business growth, development, and opportunities; promote educational excellence; and promote awareness and preservation of the Hispanic heritage.

 “Bridging the gap between the Hispanic community and the business world” 

   The Del Rio community values the contributions of small business, diversity and excellence in education. 

   The DRHCC is a dynamic, resourceful organization dedicated to improving the commercial climate, promoting a planned economic community, tourism development, and International trade in order to make Del Rio a better place to live, work and play. 

 VICE-CHAIRS AND THEIR DUTIES:

1.- The Vice-Chair of FINANCE shall:

a)  Plan and coordinate with the President and Treasurer all the Chamber’s fundraising efforts.

b)  Oversee all solicitations from all other Vice-Chair committees.

c)  Be responsible for providing the format of the annual budget to each Vice-Chair and to oversee committee expenses.

 

 2.- The Vice-Chair of INTERNATIONAL TRADE shall:

a)  Initiate functions for the membership to provide awareness of the effects of ongoing international trade.

b)  Maintain good international public relations on behalf of the DRHCC.

c)  Participate in functions relating to international trade and goodwill. 

 

3.- The Vice-Chair of ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & SMALL BUSINESS shall:

a)  Seek opportunities which will assist minority and small businesses in the area of growth and development.

b)  Work closely with the Chamber Manager in coordinating seminars, workshops, etc., which will help to enhance entrepreneurial and management skills.

c)  Recommend educational programs of business and economic issues for Chamber members, volunteers and officers.

d)  Promote our corporate sponsors and members, through all means, including coordination with the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) and the Unites States Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (USHCC).             

 

4.- The Vice-Chair of LEGISLATIVE & GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS shall:

a)  Inform the membership on issues pertaining to governmental issues at the city, county, state and national levels.b)  Promote the appointment of Hispanics to local and state Boards and/or Committees through our newsletter and all other news media. 

 

5.- The Vice-Chair of MEMBERSHIP shall:

a)  Recruit membership throughout the year and conduct a maximum of two well-structured drives.

b)  Establish and actively promote the Ambassador program.

c)  Assemble information on business anniversaries, grand openings, relocations, etc., and offer ribbon cuttings and other special recognition activities, which will include the “Small Business of the Month”.

 

 6.- The Vice-Chair of EDUACTION shall:

a)  Promote our Student Mentor Program.

b)  Participate in the establishment, constant enhancement of the Mentor Program and possible implementation of awarding scholarships and then oversee the procedures, tracking, etc of such.

c)  Be alert on local education issues and/or programs.

d)  Leverage educational opportunities for membership and small business owners. 

 

7.- The Vice-Chair of WOMEN’S ISSUES shall:

a)  Be responsible for keeping informed on political, health, etc., issues affecting women in the business market and providing this information to our members by manner of workshops or newsletters.

b)  Participate and represent the Chamber at events, etc., relating to this matter.

c)  Coordinate any of the information with other Vice-Chairs to include in any other Chamber events, workshops, etc.

 

 8- The Vice-Chair of PUBLIC RELATIONS shall:

a)  Develop relationships with media or publishing organizations in order to accomplish coverage of the Chamber’s goals, objectives and accomplishments as they relate to providing interest to the community.

b)  Coordinate effectively with the Vice-Chair of Membership to accomplish media or publishing coverage on any event, (i.e. Ribbon Cuttings, Small Business of the Month).

c)  Attend regularly community events to promote the DRHCC goals and objectives and develop its visibility.d)  Participate and/or oversee the production of the Chamber membership newsletter in coordination with the Chair-Elect and his/her committee. 

 

9.- The Vice-Chair of CULTURAL ISSUES & EVENTS shall:

a)  Be responsible for the organization of scheduled annual events that promote the Chamber’s mission.

b)  Support and participate in cultural events that are intrinsic to the Hispanic market. 

 

10.- The Vice-Chair of HEALTH ISSUES shall:

a)  Promote physical and mental health in the community and actively support stress management programs in the workplace

.b)  Keep the members informed on National Health Issues and their effect on the Hispanic community.
